Wow! If you live on the south Atlantic coast or Gulf coast and are not aware of our vulnerability for tropical activity then you have your head in the sand. Just look at these two systems that are heading toward Florida and probably the Gulf. They could just as well be coming to the south Atlantic coast. I know that we pay higher premiums for homeowners insurance because we live in coastal South Carolina. And why? Just look at this chart from the National Hurricane Center. We're a target for tropical systems and the damage they cause. We've been pretty lucky for a number of years. The worst hurricane on record for South Carolina was Hugo on September 21, 1989. I had just been at the agency for two years before this storm wrecked havoc. It was absolutely horrible and if you weren't here at the time then go to Google and pull up information about the damage from Hurricane Hugo. The problem is that we all want to think that it cannot happen again or that it won't be so bad. But that's not reality. It will happen again and if you're not prepared by being insured properly for your home and other properties then you may be in for a very rude awakening. Don't say that we didn't warn you.
Call now and ask for quotes or to talk about your insurance. Don't wait until a tropical system is imminent because that will be too late to make changes.
