Triest Agency News --- Charleston, SC - June 5, 2016... Triest Agency and the Freudenberg Family feel strongly about giving back to our community, our state, and country. The Triest and Freudenberg family have a long history of giving back to the community with time and money. In 2016 we're expressing our grateful by helping the Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society. The Hope Lodge is a home away from home for people being treated in Charleston for cancer and need a place to stay close to the hospitals. The Hope Lodge was founded by Triest Agency's President, Larry Freudenberg's grandmother, Margot Strauss Freudenberg in 1970. Our Charleston American Cancer Society Hope Lodge was the first in the United States. Residents don't have to pay to stay at the lodge which has saved cancer patients millions of dollars. There are over 30 American Cancer Society Lodges in the United States and it all started here.
Marsha Freudenberg will be a volunteer during this summer at the Hope Lodge and Triest Agency will give back by preparing and providing a dinner to the residents and their guest. A person, organizations or company sponsors the dinner Monday - Thursday of each week. Our first meal this year will be on Monday, June 6, 2016. Our employee's are excited to be able to give back.
The portrait to the left was painted by Francis Bennett and hangs prominently at the Charleston Hope Lodge. Margot came to America in 1940 with her husband, Walter, and son, Henry as refugees from Nazi Germany. Trained as a physical therapist she served the Charleston community as the only physical therapist for a number of years. She passed away in 2013 at the age of 105.
